What is Ferro Silicon?

Ferro Silicon (FeSi) is a ferroalloy composed primarily of iron and silicon. It is one of the most important raw materials used in the steelmaking and metallurgical industries, serving as a deoxidizer and alloying agent to improve the quality, strength, and performance of steel and cast iron products.

Produced in electric arc furnaces through the reduction of silica using carbon based reducing agents, Ferro Silicon is valued for its high silicon content, consistent chemical composition, and versatility across a wide range of industrial applications.

Ferro Silicon – Production Process

At Kinley Metal Private Limited, Ferro Silicon is manufactured using carefully selected raw materials and modern metallurgical processes. High purity quartz serves as the primary source of silicon and is combined with iron bearing materials and carbon reductants inside a submerged electric arc furnace.

The high temperatures generated within the furnace reduce silica into molten Ferro Silicon, which is then refined to achieve the required chemical composition. After refining, the alloy is cast, cooled, crushed, screened into various particle sizes, and packaged according to customer specifications.

Every stage of production is closely monitored to ensure consistent product quality, operational efficiency, and compliance with international standards.
